Meet the Board
 Darin Seiger
Darin Seiger

Chair and GP Director

Darin Chairs the Board of Nene Commissioning and is a highly respected medical practitioner. He was Medical Director of Northampton's primary care out-of-hours service for 10 years and the Primary Care Trust's cancer lead. He has a vision that sees Nene Commissioning established as a world class commissioning organisation. He feels that practice based commissioning is a vehicle that will empower and galvanise primary care and deliver real and effective clinical improvements. On the board he is, amongst other things, the clinical lead on the pro-active care model and for clinical engagement.

He is very active outside of work, pushing his body to its limits by competing in marathons, fell runs and endurance triathlons.

     
 Raffaella Poggi
Raffaella Poggi

Deputy Chair and GP Director

Raf is both Deputy Chair of Nene Commissioning and Chair of the Kettering and Corby Commissioning Group. She is the clinical lead on re-designing the Deep Vein Thrombosis service and joint lead on the implementation of the pro-active care programme. She joined Nene Commissioning because she believes in empowering fellow clinicians to take an active role in driving and delivering the commissioning agenda.

She has previous experience as a member of the Heartlands Primary Care Trust Clinical Commissioning Executive and as the Kettering clinical lead for the development of the areas first commissioning plan in 2006/07.

In June 2009 Raf obtained an MBA from the University of Liverpool with the dissertation "New NHS Market in England: the impact of NHS reforms on the culture of general practice".

     
 Emma Clancy
Emma Clancy

GP Director

Emma Clancy is a GP in Towcester.  She is a relatively new GP having become a partner in 2006. She also has experience of the NHS as a patient.  As such she has a vested interested in ensuring the NHS and general practice have a long and successful future. 
 
She sees practice based commissioning as one of the tools which will effect this and is passionate about working with patients and hospital clinicians to find the best ways of delivering high quality and efficient healthcare to her local population.
 
She is married with 2 children and a small menagerie including 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 ferrets.

     
 Matthew Davies
Matthew Davies

GP Director

Matthew is a GP in Daventry where he has worked since 1993.  He has been involved in commissioning for a number of years, from a total purchasing project through to his involvement as a GP Director in Nene Commissioning. For three years he was the Clinical Governor for Daventry and South Northants PCT and was then on the transitional Professional Executive Committee of Northamptonshire PCT.

Matthew believes strongly that being part of Nene Commissioning gives GPs an opportunity to provide high quality care in the appropriate setting and that PBC can drive this forward.

     
 Johnny McMahon
Johnny McMahon

GP Director

Johnny gained an MA in Philosophy and Politics before reading medicine at Aberdeen. He undertook post graduate surgical training and then went into general practice. He has been involved in clinical leadership locally since 2001, being a member of the PCT's Professional Executive Committee and was on the interim board which set up Nene Commissioning.  He has followed progress closely since then and was delighted to be elected as a GP Director onto the Board in 2009.  Johnny is conscious that part of his role on the Board is to support the establishment of a strong voice for clinicians in the North of the patch.

His outside interests include hill walking, cycling and reading.

     
 Roger Perry
Roger Perry

GP Director

Roger is a full time General Practitioner who has been in General Practice since 1981. In addition to his role as a member of the Nene Commissioning executive team he has been elected to represent his colleagues on the Local Medical Committee. He represents the Wellingborough and East Northants locality on the commissioning board.

He is also lead member for unscheduled care. He is committed to practice based commissioning as it allows GPs to better influence the commissioning and development of services to more appropriately meet the needs of local patients.

     
 Miten Ruparelia
Miten Ruparelia

GP Director

Miten Ruparelia is a partner in a Corby GP practice and joined the Board of Nene Commissioning to take a front line role in reshaping primary care services.  He is committed to ensuring that primary care clinicians are involved in developing new and enhanced services which are evidence based and which safeguard local needs. 

He is a family man with an interest in cricket and Formula 1 racing.

     
 Kamal Sood
Kamal Sood

GP Director

Kamal is a full time General Practitioner and member of the Nene Commissioning executive team. He is also the Chair of the local Out of Hours Cooperative and recently stood down as Chair of the Northamptonshire Local Medical Committee in order to successfully stand in the elections to become a local representative of the General Practitioners Committee.

Kamal has always been committed to reshaping local health services so that they can be more effective, local and patient centred and he embraces practice-based commissioning as means of achieving this.

     
 Peter Billingham
Peter Billingham

Practice Manager/Director for Corporate Management

Peter has been practice manager at the Linden Medical Group for the past four years. As one of the non-clinical professionals on the Board his role is to make the work of Nene Commissioning relevant and accessible to all practices. He has worked extensively in the private sector in general management and management accountancy including running his own management consultancy.

He advises the board on its relationships with external agencies and compliance with regulatory bodies. He strongly supports the role of clinicians in setting local health priorities and is a keen advocate of local accountability.

His outside interests include fencing, photography and information technology

     
 Jo Kiely
Jo Kiely

Practice Manager/Director for Public & Practice Engagement

Jo has been involved with Practice Based Commissioning in Northamptonshire since it was introduced.  She worked previously for the PCT as an Associate Director in commissioning, providing the original lead on PBC.  She currently works as a practice manager and has joined the Board of Nene Commissioning to support increased engagement with practices and to ensure that Nene is able to develop effective dialogues with professionals, patients and the public.  Jo is also keen to raise the profile of the organisation at a national level and to share its successes and thereby gain recognition and support for its future ventures.

Jo enjoys walking and cooking and is keen to find the time to take up golf.
